A Surprise

On my back porch, I have many potted flowers. In one pot, I am nursing a plant that wasn't doing so well. Recently, out of the pot grew this stock, that I thought was part of the plant I am nursing. Well, to my surprise, a flower bud popped out. So, I continued to watch to see what it was. The flower bud opened. I was shocked to find it is a sunflower. The sunflower seeds must have come from the bird feeder. Thank you birdies for throwing your food around :-)

Here is a picture of my new sunflower.

A Lunch Visit

Today Amy and Sebastian come up to APL to have lunch with me. Its cool for them to take time and gas to drive over for a visit. They came up to the office for a visit (don't worry HR, I didn't let her in). Right before she left she had to stop in the bathroom. So, Sebastian stayed with me and helped me do some work. He sat there with his hands on the wrist rest. Then when I would start to type he was watching my hands and grabbed my thumb. It was so cute.

Long Purple Tongue

Many years ago (i can tell by my hair...hehehe), I went to Busch Gardens and went on the safari tour. The only stop I really cared about was to feed the giraffes. I love giraffes. It's so crazy, they have these long purple tongues that they stick out and wrap around the leaves they are trying to eat. Their fur/skin is so soft, kinda like suede.

This picture is of me feeding Dollie. She was a sweet and very hungry giraffe. I believe she was pregnant as well. This was defiantly a fun time and would love to do it again.

15 Years Ago.....

This month 15 years ago, I met Diana (Porter at the time). We had both graduated highschool and received a trip to California to visit family. I remember first meeting her at a beach bonfire and thinking what a crazy girl she was (and still is). We became fast friends and soul sisters. Man, I could not imagine life without her now. She is my family and I am grateful.

I Love You Daisy!!!!!

P.S. I got me some big azz hair for sure and I wasn't even trying :-)

Good Ol' Saffie

Ok so I guess I might as well show you Saffie now and then. Saffie almost 13 years ago as a puppy and Saffie today. I didn't get to meet Saffie until she was about 1 1/2 years old. I wish I had seen her as a puppy. She sure looks cute but I heard she was a mess. A very bad girl chewing on EVERYTHING. She sure did turn out to be a wonderful dog. She looks so light with her hair cut.

My Mom and Dad

I think this is a cute picture of my mom and dad. This picture was taken on Christmas Eve 2006. I believe we had all just finished opening our presents and were having a really good time.

I want to thank my parents for EVERYTHING. They are the most wonderful, understanding, helpful and loving parents. I am so glad to have them as my Mama and PappyDad. I Love You Both.

Cybill Solstice

Well....if Summer can have a solstice so can Cybill:-)
11 years ago today I adopted Cybill. That was the one of the greatest decisions I have ever made. She has kept me sane so many times. I am SO not joking. She is just the sweetest most gentle cat I've ever known. I'm glad she's mine. I can still remember the day I saw her at the Atlanta Humane Society. She was sitting at the back of the cage being shy while the other cat was at the front trying to get someone's attention. Sounds like something I'd do. Maybe we are soul beings. Anyways......

Happy Homecoming Cybill. I love ya my sweet baby.

Summer Solstice

Today is Summer Solstice. The first day of Summer. Ain't that right. On this date 4 years ago, I adopted Summer. Every day since then has been interesting because of her. She makes me laugh so hard. She makes me so happy. She can make me incredibly mad and can drive me crazy......she's just like a child. I love her and would not imagine life without her.
Happy Homecoming day Summer!

Can you believe that baby Sebastian is 12 weeks old today. Next thing you know he will be 12 years old and then graduating 12th grade.......Cherish every moment!!!
This little man is so cute. Here he is sleeping in Mama Amy's hands. They came over while my parents were in town so they could meet.

So Close

I have never seen a container ship so close before. Even though I was on vacation and shouldn't be thinking about work, it was exciting to see. What would have been even better is a vessel with APL containers on it (since they are the one's that pay me.....)

This picture was taken during our dinner cruise on the river in Savannah. I believe we saw three vessels during that one night.

I would like to some day actually see an APL vessel. That would be best done in California.

The Pear Tree

Ok, so my friends Kellie and Brett have a pear tree in their back yard. Now once the pears are ripe, they turn out really good. BUT, while they are being nurtured on the limbs, they grow in a pair. What do they look like? Go ahead and put your mind right into the gutter. I'm just gonna say it, the pair of pears look like a ball sack. All we need now is a sausage and you'd have the full picture......AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Happy Father's Day

I want to wish my daddy a very Happy Father's day. Isn't this picture crazy. Well, yeah, that is my Dad....... God this picture makes me laugh so hard. Mom, Dad and I were acting pretty weird when it was taken.
His Father's day present from Richie, Scottie and I was the same Olympus camera that was from Mother's Day. They have to share. Of course when we were on vacation a few weeks ago, Dad used the camera the most. That was actually very surprising to me that he was having so much fun with the darn thing. He has done a good job.

Love ya Paps. See ya real soon :-)

Ghost Hunters

I'm watching Ghost Hunters on TV right now so what better picture to post than one from our walking tour in Savannah. Story is, some chick jumped from the top window way back in the day. Supposedly she still stays in that room and haunts it. The guide says that people regularly get orbs from around that window. I got lots of "orbs". Is it a that lady or is it just dust? (Click on the picture to make it bigger. You see more detail that way.)
Do you believe?

A Ghost Ride

In Savannah, you can take a ghost tour in a hearse. Ain't that crazy? We didn't get to take this tour but it sure looked fun. I guess you can stand up and look out the roof of the hearse. Maybe next time.

My Grammy

Look at the picture of my Grammy that my Dad took. She is in her mid 80's now and as fiesty as ever. I believe in this picture she is saying "Look into my eyes". She sure has some baby blues and still has to get her hair done every week :-) Love ya Grammy!

Plant Bugs

Isn't this a fine looking plant? Too bad, it seems it has bugs and they are pretty darn big. Oh wait, never mind. It is just Summer. She is sometimes a pest and one that bites too. Crazy cat. She really thinks she's hiding.......Gotta love her :-)

Summer Cut

Look at Saffie's new summer cut. She looks so cute. This cut makes her look so light and young. And the funny thing is under her winter coat is a patch of black hair and now that it's cut, the spot makes her have a scooby doo back. hehehehehe.

# 100

Well, i have hit 100 posts. I can't believe that. As a celebration, this guy (who we saw in Charleston) wants to play a little diddy (not about Jack and Diane this time....hehehehe). He can play all these instruments at one time. He was actually pretty talented but pretty funny to stumble upon.

Jail Time

No I'm not talking about Paris Hilton.....what a joke!!!!!
While in Savannah, my Mom and Dad were thrown into jail. They sure look sad, huh. Don't worry, I got 'em out with my big guns......hehehehe. We were at Fort Pulaski.

On Cloud Nine

Check out this picture of a cloud at sunset. I thought it was cool. I took this in Savannah on the top deck of the dinner cruise we took. It was so nice up there.

First Day.....

Today my best little bud James started pre-preschool or Mothers Day Out. He is becoming such a big boy. From what I understand, he was not scared. He was very excited. He introduced himself to his teacher and said goodbye to Mommy. He came home with his first "school papers". I just can't believe it. One of the best parts for me (i'll be selfish for a sec) is he got to wear the new school clothes I bought him and he wanted to take the card I sent him in his backpack. I feel that I was with him all day. That just makes me smile so big.
I am VERY proud of James.

Stickshift

Look at this toliet in our historic hotel room in Charleston. It has no tank, the water flushed hard and looked like it was going to overflow, and it looks like you are driving a stickshift.....vrooom, vrooom. hehehehehehe

Dang it, Vacation's Over!!!!!

Well, Vacation's over. My parents are on their way back to Florida. I guess I gotta go back to work tomorrow. I want to thank my parents for everything (helping with the garage sale, fixing my water spicket out back, my toliet, vacation.....everything). Where shall we go next year? So many places.......

This picture is of the Welcoming Pinapple Waterfountain at the waterfront in Charleston.

For Saturday, June 2nd

On Saturday we packed up, left Charleston and headed back home. Cybill and Summer was so happy to see me. They would not leave me alone. They are so cute. Once home, we had to go down to Scottie's house to see Saffie's new hair cute. (thank you garage sale for the money for Saffie's new do) I need one of those bad. I had to buy a hat in Savannah because my hair got wild and would not stay out of my eyes.

This picture was taken outside the SC Aquarium on Friday. There is only three pictures with all three of us. Geeze, I finally remembered that I have a timer on my camera and no one was around so I could leave my camera without worrying.

For Friday, June 1st

On Friday we took a bus tour. Good Grief, the little bus driver guy drove like a maniac. I thought I was going to throw up a couple times. He talked so fast. After that we took a house tour. It was the Joseph Manigault House. Then we went to the Drayton Hall Plantation. There were three plantations within 10 or so miles from each other but we didn't have time to do them all. Drayton Hall was cool because like all the other house museums, they did not restore it to it's original beauty. There was no furniture. They did not add electricity, air conditioning or a bathroom. The house had what was left of the orignial paint, crown molding but not the windows. The windows were blown out by a hurricane in, i believe, the 1890's. This house was made in 1738.

This picture is of Drayton Hall Plantation

For Thursday, May 31st

On Thursday we took a boat tour, visited the South Carolina Aquarium, more walking and a ghost walking tour. This ghost tour was ok. The guide's stories dragged on a bit too long. One cool thing we did see was while standing in front of the cemetery, one of the above ground graves was opened and nothing was in there. I don't know if someone stole it or the grave was being worked on. It was freaky though since it was dark.

This picture is of a hawk at the aquarium. I felt bad because this hawk had no place to spread it's wings. I hope the hawk was actually injured and they saved it and that's why it is in the cage.

For Wednesday, May 30th

On Wednesday we packed up in Savannah and headed off to Charleston. We took a detour to the outlet mall almost in Hilton Head. Didn't find anything though. In Charleston, we got to stay in a historic hotel, The Frances Marion Hotel. It was pretty nice. Not the normal hotel decor. Once we got settled, we went for a walk. We ended up at the Battery on the peninsula.

This picture is of the houses that are on the Battery. Very old, very beautiful and VERY expensive.

For Tuesday, May 29th

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMA!!!!!

On Tuesday, we went to Tybee Island. On the way we stopped at Fort Jackson, Fort Polaski, a lighthouse (which was closed, it we would have read the brochure correctly, we would have know) and the Savannah Zoo.

Then at night we took a walking Ghost Tour. It was a good tour. The guide was more into the paranormal. She got everyone into it. Telling us to take pictures to see if you can catch a ghost or orb on your camera. My camera would not even work in places. It was pretty weird. I started using Mom and Dad's new camera and got all kinds of stuff. Not to say it's not just dust but it was fun and the guide kept everyone interested.

This picture is of the Davenport House. It sure seems to have a supernatural presence around it......or just dust. Who knows.

For Monday, May 28th

On Monday, we took a trolley tour. We can get off an on at any stop we wanted all day. There are 17 different stops. We took a full ride around to see everything and then we got off to see sites like: The Juliet Gordon Low birthplace (founder of the girlscouts), Forsyth Park, Cathedral of St John, and Colonial Park Cemetary to name a few. Then at night we took a trolley ghost tour. The tour guide had this crazy laugh. The trolley made a stop at the Sorrel-Weed House. It is suppose to be seriously haunted. Even the TV show "Ghost Hunters" investigated it. The bad thing was we took this tour at 7pm and it is not dark yet so it's not so scary.

This picture was taken at the Colonial Park Cemetary. I think it's cool. The tree has so much moss on it with the graves below.

For Sunday, May 27th

On Sunday, my parents and I went on vacation. We went to Savannah and Charleston. Sunday night after we picked up our rental car (Jeep Laredo), drove to Savannah and checked into our hotel (which was just one block from the river) we went on a dinner cruise. As we were sitting at our table waiting for the dinner to be served, something caught the corner of my eye. It was a container ship. No APL containers though or a vessel name I had heard of. Oh well.

This picture is of my Mom and Dad infront of the cruise paddle boat we took. It was called the Georgia Queen.
